About Me

Back in 2005 I decided I wanted more from my life. I wanted a job that would make an impact on other people’s lives.

By then I had experienced counselling myself, with both positive and less positive outcomes however, I believed becoming a counsellor would be a good fit for my new life as it would allow me to help someone the same way my counsellor helped me.

I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist since 2011 and worked part-time from 2012 to 2021. In 2022 I committed to working full-time, providing a first-class counselling and personal therapy service both in person and online.

I have a Master’s Degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy from the Irish College of Humanities and Applied Sciences (ICHAS). Since graduation, I have continued my professional education by completing a variety of training courses and I now specialise in CBT, Couples Counselling, Sand and Art Therapy,  Grief, Domestic Violence and Suicide Counselling.

If you Google me, you are most likely to find information about my swimming exploits. While I am a big advocate of the healing properties of nature and being outdoors, you might be surprised to learn that in 2019 I overcame my huge fear of open water and depth to become a wetsuit sea swimmer!

Then, in October 2020 I set myself a goal to do a relay swim of the English Channel, which meant getting rid of the wetsuit. In 2021, I completed my first Marathon Swim (11k) and won the ILDSA (Irish Long Distance Swimming Association) Best Newcomer to Open Water Swimming.   In June 2022, I completed my goal of the English Channel Relay.

It is interesting to note that I still suffer from anxiety around swimming. There are days I find it hard to get into the water, but I always do get in and push myself beyond my comfort zone as a way of managing my anxiety.
